Prefab

Prefab has been a part of the Australian and Kiwi spirit since the days of the British Empire. Homes were shipped from overseas in kit form and assembled locally, shown in the highly repetitious nature of older home layouts. Since then, advances in computational design, parametric programming, and just plain old CAD have allowed us to take this method to new heights. Prefab and modular design can now be tailored to the sensitivities of each site while allowing a level of quality and finish that only a factory environment could provide.

You wouldn’t ask Toyota to make your car in your driveway from scratch, maybe it’s time we stopped asking the same of our builders.

“In the face of the economic plight, it is our task to become pioneers of simplicity, that is, to find a simple form for all of life’s necessities, which is at the same time respectable and genuine.”

— Oskar Schlemmer
